Chosei Zen Virtual Dojo is holding Level 1 Jiki/ Instructor Training on how to run a sitting group or be a jiki in the Virtual dojo or IZL programs. This is an annual training opportunity that can help hone your skills in leading Zen meditation and familiarize you with a couple of key texts: our Level 1 instructor manual and Jiki Stories.
Who is it for? Experienced practitioners interested in starting their own sitting groups or becoming a jiki for the Virtual Dojo or IZL programs, or current jikis who want to uplevel their skills. Chosei Zen students who have attended or are ready to attend sesshin/keishin and IZL students who have completed ZL3/HEAL3 are also eligible to attend. This is part of the required training for ZL Instructor certification.
What will you learn? We'll review all sections and resources associated with the Level 1 Instructor Manual, 2nd Edition, including:
How to set up a physical space for a sitting group or guide people in setting up their own spaces for online Zazen
The role of the jiki in person and online and best practices for being jiki
Exercises and practices for furthering students' training in Zen
We'll also review and share Jiki Stories that convey the spirit (kiai) of the jiki role and help you inhabit it. Once you register, we'll send you both documents to review ahead of time.
When is it? This program will be held on Saturday, Feb 1, 10 am - 12 pm CT (5-7 pm CET).
What's Involved? We've consolidated what in the past was a 2-part program into one part and will ask participants to read both texts ahead of time to be fully ready. This training is offered on a donation basis.
Next Step? Register below and you'll be sent the materials for pre-reading and the link link for joining the session.
All training through Chosei Zen are donation-based and open to all regardless of ability to pay. All donations are very much appreciated and help keep our dojos running! You can donate here.
